The readily perceived conformity regarding linkage of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ with the spring Jewish feasts is one in which our Lord follows a precise temporal sequence, i.e. a chronology of the exact days and months on which each feast occurred historically. This temporal sequence includes Passover, Unleavened Bread, First Fruits, and Pentecost and is clearly noted in the events connected with Christ. Beyond that, however, one can comment on little else concerning Christ and the Jewish feasts.

 Much of the relationship between events in the life of Christ and the Jewish feasts is a matter of speculation because Scripture does not explicitly state that the Lord “fulfilled” them. Given that this is the case, all should exercise care in the interpretation of God’s Word regarding these matters. Drawing unsubstantiated conclusions based on similarities, indirect comparisons, and misguided and overflowing exuberance leads to examples like Fruchtenbaum’s claim: “There are two main passages that deal with the details of the Rapture and in both of those passages there is the presence of a trumpet, the trumpet of the Feast of Trumpets,” (www.ariel.org/mbs118m.pdf).

The last five years have been especially fruitful for me personally, inasmuch as I have had the unique opportunity to study all the significant passages that deal with the end of the age. The need to do this work grew out of my discovery that pretrib teachers consistently have incorrectly interpreted Daniel 9:24-27. Because they are so dogmatic about the meaning of this passage, including their supposed ability to count down to the very day that Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey [Sir Robert Anderson’s conclusion], many people have accepted their understanding of Daniel 9 without question. I was once among them.

Operation Expose the Truth attempts to get pretribulationists to see that their position does not have one explicit passage of Scripture to support it. The one verse most often quoted in support of the pretrib position has been shown to be completely misinterpreted. In phase I, we offer the e-pamphlet to all our PreWrath supporters. It is an advanced copy. If you have not gotten your copy, you may do so by shopping in our store.

In a few days, we will begin printing the pamphlet. You will have the opportunity to buy the pamphlet in packages of 25 at a cost of $15 plus postage. This is phase II. We want to give the pamphlet to pretribbers absolutely free. The e-pamphlet will make an excellent bulletin insert for churches, extra  Sunday school reading material, or as a conversation starter as you ask people to read it and give you their impression.

Dr. David G. Winfrey Changes Position

After our earlier post, Dr. David G. Winfrey emailed me regarding his previous statement and the position he now holds regarding the timing of the rapture. He wrote,

I no longer hold the view depicted in the play I wrote years ago- THE DOOMSDAY STAR. The rapture of the church and the advent of the ANTICHRIST are not concurrent events.  In fact, some will not even consider me to be a pretribber. I have rejected many of the so-called “proof texts” presented by the majority of pretribulationists. In fact, I am sure that there are more passages that we agree upon than those we disagree upon.

Our only issue with Dr. Winfrey concerned his conclusion about Revelation 3:10. Now that he no longer stands by his previous statement, we see no reason to speak of him in this connection.
