MY COMMUNICATION GOALS
10. Regarding my teaching skills: I will seek to sharpen my skills in teaching end-times prophecy.
9. Regarding the content I teach: I will not simply teach others what I have been taught. I will make sure I have done my own homework to determine whether Scripture does indeed confirm the truths I’m considering.
MY ONGOING ATTITUDE
8. Regarding my ego: I don’t have the personal need to prove to others that I am right.
7. Regarding my knowledge: I don’t have all the pieces of the puzzle or see all the evidence that is out there; therefore, there is always something for me to learn from someone else.
6. Regarding other positions: I will seek to understand opposing viewpoints and the rationale behind those positions.
5. Regarding critiques and hard questions asked of the position I hold:
a. I will read, and not avoid, books and articles critiquing the position I hold. I will be open to hearing and examining difficult questions regarding the position I hold.
b. When a hard question is asked and I have no clue how to answer it, I will say, “You have a good point. I really don’t know how to answer that question. Give me time to think it through.”
4. Regarding problems and errors in the position I hold:
a. When I discover problems in the position I hold, I will be honest with others regarding them and not feel the need to hide them.
b. When I see an error in my “system,” I will say, “I was wrong.”
3. Regarding the cost: I am willing to pay the price if I change my position.
MY LORD’S COMMANDMENT
2. Regarding Christ’s heart: I will always keep in mind the commandment of the Lord Jesus; the one always on His heart, emphasized over and over again to His disciples. It was not, “Locate the timing of the Rapture and convince others of it,” but rather, “Love one another.”
MY GREATEST PURSUIT
1. Regarding God’s goal: I will pursue as my greatest pleasure in life that which I will experience at the coming of Christ in the clouds — the inexpressible joy and delight of marveling at His glory.
Exhortation
The Law: All 613 Commandments!
Here are all 613 Commandments.
“For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.” – James 2:10
“For as many as are of the works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written, “CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO DOES NOT ABIDE BY ALL THINGS WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF THE LAW, TO PERFORM THEM.”” – Gal 3:10
“After glancing through that list of all 613 commandments, I suddenly have a renewed appreciation for Christ’s active and passive obedience. No hope of heaven without it. And what a blessing (and a relief) it is to know that because of Christ, God sees me as though I had kept all 613!” – Kim Riddlebarger
There are many today who believe they are pious for doubting that God has spoken with clarity on the Return of his Son. They are called Panmillennialists (i.e. “we cannot know…it will all pan out in the end.”)
But Jesus teaches in Matthew 24 that this attitude of panmillennialism is sinful, and exhorts us not to have doubt but knowledge, “even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door.”
Charles Spurgeon’s words here on doubters applies to those post-moderns who call themselves evangelicals and sadly extol doubt as a virtue and certainty as a vice. May God turn their hearts back to the plain and clear words of our Lord.
Ministry founder: U.S. Christians “absolutely not prepared” for persecution
by Allie Martin
The founder of Gospel for Asia says while persecution is increasing worldwide for Christians, he believes it will soon impact believers in America — and K.P. Yohannan says they need to get ready for it.
Persecution against Christians is increasing worldwide, especially in countries such as India, where attacks on churches and Christians by Hindu extremists have increased dramatically. In fact, when missionaries graduate from Gospel for Asia (GFA) Bible colleges, they are told to expect persecution — and perhaps even death — for spreading the gospel.
According to GFA founder K.P. Yohannan, Christians in those countries expect such treatment and are prepared when the tough times come. But he believes Christians in America will soon be faced with persecution as well — and he is fearful that many are not ready.
“The great falling-away from faith could be worst here in [America] because people are absolutely not prepared to face suffering or persecution — because we cannot imagine a gospel with the cross and the suffering in it,” says Yohannan. “Yet the Bible teaches very strong about it. So as the Word of God says: He who has ears, let him hear.”
The ministry leader is convinced that prosperity has caused many Christians in America to focus on material possessions instead of surrendering all to Christ. The result, he says, is that American Christians have become “very na
Difficult Times Are Soon Ahead For the Church – It is Sobering, Yet Joyful
These are sober times to reflect on the judgment that is soon to come on this nation in full force. Indeed, homosexuality, secularism, and those who believe they are a law unto themselves are judgments in themselves on this nation.
Those whose happiness is tied up in things will find those things passing away. Truly, we must examine to see what attachments we have for this world system. Here is our power during times of persecution–indeed, it should be our mindset even now,
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
And our attitude should be,
“…if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And, “If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?” So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.” (1Peter 4:16-19)
Our Blessed Hope is not escaping trials and persecution in itself, nor having wealth and good health. What is our Blessed hope? It is now, being secure in the love of Christ; and it is a future promise of being with Christ at his appearing and subsequent fellowship in glory. It is not a blessed hope to see Christ at his return in the midst of watching television sitting on a plush sofa cramming our faces with food. No. It is a blessed hope for the one who is naked and hungry sitting on a hard floor in jail who refused to bow the knee to Antichrist. It is a blessed hope for the one who has been betrayed by their children and siblings for the Name of Christ. It will be a blessed hope to see Christ at his return in the midst of persecution–not prosperity.
And in those future dark days, may we press close to our hearts this most awesome promise from our Creator and Savior,
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written:
For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:35-39) (Katherine views this passage as pivotal as well.)
May we prepare our hearts now, for God does not honor unprepared foolish virgins who will not be vigilant. It is Godly wisdom to prepare now for the banquet.
